Frequently Asked Questions

Based on years of experience, I recommend scheduling newborn session when babies are around 2–3 weeks old. During this window, babies are often more settled, feeding routines are beginning to feel more established, and parents have had a little time to recover and find their footing.

Sessions scheduled too early can sometimes coincide with frequent feeding and unsettled periods, while babies closer to one month old may be more alert and less inclined to sleep. That said, every baby — and every family — is unique. We’ll work together to find a time that feels comfortable and supportive for both you and your baby.

Families navigating NICU stays, medical considerations, or unique postpartum needs are always welcomed with flexibility and care.

I reserve a limited number of newborn sessions each month to ensure every family has the time, flexibility, and care this season deserves. For that reason, I recommend reserving your newborn session during pregnancy — especially if you’re a planner — as spots tend to fill quickly.

When you book, we’ll note your due date as a placeholder. Once your baby arrives, you’ll simply reach out and we’ll finalize a session date that works best for you, taking into account recovery, feeding rhythms, and how everyone is feeling. Babies, of course, arrive on their own timeline — and I intentionally build flexibility into my schedule to accommodate that.

It is sometimes possible to book a newborn session after your baby has arrived; however, availability cannot be guaranteed. Reserving early ensures a place on the calendar while still allowing room for a schedule that truly works for your family.

Very little —  my studio is fully stocked with newborn essentials — including diapers, wipes, lotion, boogie wipes, a bottle warmer, burp cloths, and other baby-care necessities — so you don’t need to worry about packing everything.

Items I recommend bringing:
A bottle or feeding supplies
A pacifier (if used)
Any sentimental items you’d like to include

Yes. My studio offers a carefully curated wardrobe designed to photograph beautifully through pregnancy and the postpartum season. That’s completely expected. Newborn sessions are baby-led, with time built in for feeding, soothing, and resetting as needed. When siblings are involved, flexibility and patience are key.

With a background in education and extensive experience working with children of all ages, I rely on gentle guidance, play, and inclusion rather than rigid posing or pressure to perform. Children are encouraged to participate in ways that feel natural to them, and breaks are always welcome. My studio playroom and thoughtful pacing allow siblings to reset when needed — helping the experience stay calm, positive, and connected for everyone involved.

My signature style focuses on soft neutrals and earthy tones for timeless images. However, if you love color, I’m happy to incorporate tones that complement your baby’s skin tone and your home’s aesthetic. The newborn styling collection includes a wide range of wraps, textures, and subtle colors to choose from.

The Newborn Mini is designed for newborn-only portraits.

The Classic Newborn Session includes parents and baby.

The Signature Newborn Session is best suited for families wishing to include siblings.

If you’re unsure which option fits your family best, I’m always happy to help guide that decision.

Newborn sessions are intentionally unhurried. The extra time built into each session allows for:

Feeding breaks
Diaper changes
Soothing and settling
Gentle posing transitions
A calm, baby-led pace

This ensures your baby stays comfortable and your experience feels peaceful.

That’s very common — and completely okay. Many partners arrive feeling unsure about being in front of the camera. My role isn’t to force anyone into awkward poses or staged moments. Instead, I guide the session in a relaxed, natural way that focuses on connection rather than performance.

You’ll never be left wondering what to do. I offer clear, gentle direction and small adjustments that help everyone feel comfortable and natural in the frame. Most partners find that once the focus shifts from “posing” to simply interacting with their family, the experience becomes much easier — and even enjoyable.
